The logs and emails give you a sense of isolation, as you imagine the horrible fates of your co-workers. In SS2 (ala Blair Witch 1), your mind is set free to imagine the horror that went on while you were sleeping. In Half-Life (ala Blair Witch 2), you see EVERYTHING, leaving little to your imagination. You might compare these games with The Blair Witch Project and Blair Witch 2. HL relies on jump-out-of-your-seat scares, while SS2 prefers to creep you out with atmospheric horror. Actually, this one is fairly cut-and-dry. SS2 has amazing atmosphere, and this is all done with the excellent sound. ), but overall, it's pretty much been there, heard that. HL's sound is great (the aliens all sound scary, and when those big dog-like things die, they sound like they're crying, and you feel bad that you killed them.poor little guys. System Shock 2 takes number one with a bullet here. ![]() HL was much more accessible, in that you can basically pick it up and breeze through it, exploration-wise. Come on, I get enough of that stuff in MYST. I didn't like the fact that SS2 relied too much on key-hunting. ![]() ![]() Both games have tight control, but HL seems to be a little floaty to me at certain times (your character runs pretty fast). But SS2's gameplay is simply more advanced, with the RPG character-development system and the different cyber modules and such. GAMEPLAY: Half-Life is a totally fun game to play, no question. Half-Life had better character and enemy graphics overall (they look more rounded out and less blocky than in SS2), but I think SS2 has better textures (the Von Brauns walls, ceilings and rooms look really great the splattered blood looks more realistic-but keep in mind that HL's blood is all real-time). Anyways, which one do you think is better-Half-Life or System Shock 2? I'll give you my take on it: Okay, this is a risky topic, especially considering the fact that I'm posting it in the SS2 forum, but whatever.
